Abstract: Within a university setting, as well as in most startups, a project is typically small enough to be managed by a single team. However, as products become more complex, this approach quickly reaches its limits. What happens then? In this presentation, we will explore one of the most widely adopted scaling frameworks: SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). We will take a high-level look at its adoption and satisfaction success, as well as the criticism and effectiveness associated with applying Agile software development at scale. Although this presentation is grounded in the theoretical foundations of SAFe, its primary focus is on practical insights and personal experience. We believe that understanding how these frameworks are applied in real-world environments is just as important as understanding the theory behind them.
Speakers: Vukica Stojkovic is a Scrum Master working in a SAFe environment with a background in Computer Science (M.Sc.). Her career path started in IT support, where a coincidence opened the door to Agile ways of working — and quickly turned into a professional passion. She focuses on building teams that collaborate effectively, communicate openly, and continuously improve. With a strong interest in Agile leadership and human-centric teamwork, she combines technical understanding with facilitation skills and an empathetic approach. She enjoys helping teams grow towards autonomy and confidence, while creating a positive, supportive work culture.
Giovanna Luisi has been leading the innovative Coach/Scrum Master course at FAU and TU Berlin for several years, motivated by her commitment to shape the agile-native generation into people-centric leaders, to revolutionise the skillset graduates enter the workforce with, and to improve upon the educational offerings available in the industry. A seasoned change leader with a wealth of Agile knowledge, she has led large transformation efforts in a variety of sectors – from financial services to data research, telecoms to insurance – working with some of the most cutting -edge technologies available today.
