Abstract: What does car production have in common with managing IT projects? Kanban as an effective method for managing IT projects has its origins in lean production at Toyota. David J. Anderson transferred Kanban principles into software development by defining core practices. Using Kanban has positive effects on all stakeholders involved in a project. We illustrate the use of Kanban as a management tool and the practical implementation within IT projects.

Speaker: Dr. Holger Schmidt is a vice president at msg systems in Nürnberg. Within customer project he acts as agile coach and consultant for the public sector. Since 2012 he used Kanban to manage IT projects and supported projects as Kanban trainer and coach. Amongst others, he successfully introduced Kanban within a large project for a customer in the public sector in combination with V-Modell XT.
