Generic Project (PRAK / PROJ / ASEP)

We offer a generic 10 ECTS project course, commonly called the applied software engineering project.

In most degree programs, including the computer science Master’s degree program, it is called OSS-PROJ (exam id: 31421). In the computer science Bachelor degree program, it is called OSS-PRAK (exam id: 31421) and in the artificial intelligence Master degree program it is called OSS-ASEP (exam id: 32421).

This generic project module is different from our specialized project courses like AMOS, which have predefined content. In PROJ, you perform an individual project with us (rather than take part in a canned class).

The topic of a PROJ project needs to be individually agreed upon between you and us. The best approach is to read up on our research or browse final thesis topics, and then come with suggestions or describe your interest in a topic to us. We may offer these topics but usually forget about that folder.

Sometimes we also offer a one-off project topic to larger groups of students.

If you are interested to do something larger, we can combine PROJ (the 10 ECTS Master project) with AMSE (our 5 ECTS course on continuous software engineering) or SEMI (our 5 ECTS seminar course) and a Master thesis.

You can come as a single person or as a team. Topics are open and negotiable (but we need to like them).

To initiate contact, please send email to Prof. Riehle or to the wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter:in you are interested in working with. If you haven’t talked to us beforehand, please add a short description of your interests. If you are unsure about our research, just participate in an existing class or audit the project presentation session, in which we advertise our research to students.
