Abstract: This talk will introduce surveys as research method for software engineering. It will cover discussions on when and how to use it, what guidelines need to be followed and especially how it can help to build and validate theories. In particular, it will contain many hints from prior experiences with surveys.


Speaker: Stefan Wagner is full professor for empirical software engineering and Managing Firector of the Institute of Software Engineering of the University of Stuttgart. He studied computer science in Augsburg and Edinburgh and holds a PhD from the Technical University Munich. His main research interests are software quality, requirements engineering, safety and security and continuous/agile software engineering. He is a member of the IEEE, ACM and GI.
