Confidentiality Agreement

A confidentiality agreement a.k.a. non-disclosure agreement is a contract between two parties in which they agree to keep certain data exchanged between them confidential. The university and our research group often sign such agreements to gain access to the data of our industry partners. Before we can publish any results based on the data, we need to run our proposed publication by the industry partner.

We often involve students in our research. Sometimes this research then involves confidential data as explained above. Before a student can receive such confidential data, they need to sign a confidentiality agreement as well. The confidentiality agreement is typically between the university and the student, not between the company and the student (transitive closure).

For such situations, students need to sign

the FAU non-disclosure agreement

and provide it to their supervisor or our secretary.
