Learning Agreement Approval Requests

Students require a learning agreement to have courses taken at other universities be applied to their degree program. This way, they can go abroad, take courses, and progress in their studies.

These courses need prior approval by way of the mentioned learning agreement. This document describes how a student should prepare a request of approval for a learning agreement. Please follow these instructions precisely.

To request approval of a learning agreement, please submit the following information to learning-agreement-approval-requests@group.riehle.org using the English language:

  1. The learning agreement, in PDF form, with all information filled in. For the Study Abroad module of the IIS program, please use this PDF. Specifically, make sure that your name, the course names and module numbers and the credit points are listed. If you don’t know some information, leave it out, but don’t expect us to fill it in either. If the missing information is critical, you will not get a signature, so please make sure everything of consequence is covered. Don’t forget your own signature before you submit.
  2. Foreign course summary. Please provide a link or an authentic PDF describing the course that you want to take. If it is a reasonable computer science course, and you haven’t already taken the same course at FAU, we will approve it.
  3. Pointer to precedence. In this spreadsheet we provide a list of courses that we previously approved as part of learning agreements. You can help us and yourself if you choose a pre-approved course and tell us about it.
  4. Credit point mapping. Please provide a link or an authentic explanation of the credit points allocated to the course and how they translate into ECTS points.

This information should be gathered before you make a request and it should be submitted all at once. Please note that we are using a diversity of software. Specifically, we prefer open-source software over closed-source software. This means, for example, that what works on Adobe Acrobat on your Windows machine may not work using our Linux PDF viewer at all. Please check beforehand to avoid any unnecessary delays.

Learning agreements are reviewed once a month. Please refrain from repeat requests before the one month time period has passed.

Good luck with your studies abroad!
