Abstract: Test automation has become more important than ever for development and quality assurance of software products. For Siemens’ TIA Portal it was decided to establish (beside the module tests) UI-based test automation. The goal is to test as closely as possible to the customer use cases. During the development of a software product there are typically a lot of changes also in the UI. To avoid frequent changes in the test code, it is necessary to use a layered architecture for the test automation libraries. This also simplifies the development of test code and increase the robustness.
Speaker: Mr. Luber is working for SIEMENS AG since 1988. In the area of factory and process automation he had different responsibilities: Object management system in S7-400 controller, project lead for S7-400, system definition for SIMATIC S7+, system integration for TIA Portal. Currently he is responsible for the basic mechanisms of UI-based test automation for Windows and web-based applications and the support for Microsoft Test-Management in different Business Units.
