Abstract: Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) is omni-present and inevitable to business success also in a high-technology company like ZEISS. To secure its benefits, related risks must be adequately handled. This talk will provide insights on how FOSS governance is set up in a larger enterprise and clarify underlying principles and challenges along typical misunderstandings within the industry context.

Speaker: Holger is responsible for FOSS governance within the ZEISS group. He joined ZEISS 2.5 years ago to work full-time on his passion, FOSS, as Corporate Open Source Officer. Before, he worked for more than a decade in Health IT with GE Healthcare, the University Hospital of Heidelberg and the Helmholtz Zentrum München. During that time, his focus was on technical interoperability, clinical documentation and software engineering within the medical device context. He studied computer science at the TU Munich, the Tampere University of Technology, and the University of Leipzig.
